Minimising Disruption

We know construction can be disruptive. While there are times when it’s unavoidable, we’re working to make the process more manageable. We have explained the ways we’re working in this minimising disruption PDF guide.

Overview of major works

To help communicate the temporary traffic management arrangements (which includes diversions) we have put together a document which includes the details and timeframes associated with the key junctions – view the details in this PDF guide.

Ongoing work

Nightingale Junction / Galliard Road

Nightingale Road and Galliard Road have been open for some weeks now and are operating as normal. The footway works are complete but we are investigating some footway improvement works outside Saint Alphege Church. The additional directional arrows (line marking) on Nightingale Road have now been installed.

Sutherland Road Junction

We will be installing cycle slabs at the bus stop. Once these are installed the work at this location will be complete.

Edmonton Green Roundabout

Works on the southbound footway on The Broadway from the pedestrian crossing outside St Modwens have now been completed except for the area around the JC Decaux telephone kiosk, which is planned to be removed.

Fore Street

Works between Plevna Road and Osman Road are complete and this area is currently being used to house a temporary bus stop to maintain service while the stop south of Osman Road is suspended. Work continues between Osman Road and Sebastopol Road where the rain garden and cycle path build out is underway on the southern corner of the junction. BT is conducting work at this location that is expected to take four to six weeks. Resurfacing from Brettenham Road to the southern extent of work is to commence from 1 May 2019 for three nights. Work continues on the Bridge Road crossing where the crew is working on paving and installing the cycle track kerb line. The crossing will remain closed until the resurfacing is complete. The cycle track and footway has now been completed on the southbound footway outside the Police station. Work continues on the bus stop opposite the police station (letter M), with the bus boarder kerbline being installed.. Work has also commenced on the traffic island at this location. All the southbound footway works from Park Avenue have been completed with the exception of an area of buff. This is programmed to be completed at a later date. The traffic management at this location is still set up to allow for two way traffic with a signal controlled pedestrian crossing. Work is ongoing on the northbound footway. We are currently installing the setts, blocks and tactiles for the border of the cycle track on the corner of Park Ave. We are also continuing with the kerbline installation into the junction of Park Ave. Footway work is now complete on the bus boarder build out outside Capitol Resturant.

Smythe Close

Works at the Bridge Road crossing were delayed by Transport for London works, however have now recommenced. The works are now under way with part of the kerb line complete along with the narrow segregation islands. The kerb line on the Northbound side has been repositioned to stop buses coming into contact with the mature trees. Work is substantively complete on the Northbound side, except the buff surfacing of the cycle lanes which will be completed at a later date.
