Ponders End update

Enfield Council is making a huge investment in Ponders End to make it a better place to live, work and visit. There are several major projects currently taking place aimed at increasing housing and

community facilities in the area, together with improvements to road safety and traffic flow.

However, for us to bring these projects including Cycle Enfield to fruition it will be necessary to close off the junction of Ponders End High Street, Derby Road, Lincoln Road and South Street for a 6-week period starting from the 24th July.

The reduction in traffic due to the school holiday will contribute to the fast pace of works, which will take place every day, and will therefore significantly alleviate the inevitable travel pressures during the work. We appreciate that road closures will cause disruption and inconvenience, and we had considered installing temporary traffic lights, but our analysis found this would have easily doubled the amount of time required to finish the project. The road closure will ensure that the works are carried out swiftly, safely and effectively. You can get updates on the entirety of the Ponders Ends regeneration scheme here.
