Mario of Edmonton's Story

Mario of Edmonton

“ As much as we like driving (and I do drive), cars will not be a sustainable mode of travel in the long term, especially for short trips. ”

I cycle to and from Edmonton to Honilands School for work, I also cycle at the weekend. On a good day it takes me 25 minutes but when there’s a lot of traffic it takes 35 minutes. It is safe, cheap and fast way to get to work on time and it’s environmentally friendly. I have always cycled. As a child I was inspired by the freedom of movement that comes with cycling.

Cycle Enfield is a great initiative. I have supported it since the start. Of course there’s been teethingĀ problems but nothing we cannot all solveĀ together! As much as we like driving (and I do drive) cars will not be a sustainable mode of travel in the long term, especially for short trips

“ I find looking for parking takes longer than just cycling or walking to the same place! ”

A bit of background

It’s the gears and cables propelling you forward that I love. I call it poetry in motion! In the UK I did my accredited on-road training certificate years ago and since then cycling has been my main mode of transport. London imspires me and cycling enables me to expliore the city, through London Cycle Diaries I have discovered lesser known parts.

With the scheme we can raise much needed awareness of road safety, reduce car usage and encourage people to take up cycling and walking as a green option. It will ease congestion, reduce pollution and it’s fun!
