Mohan – Inclusive Cycling's Story

Mohan – Inclusive Cycling

“ I had a stroke a couple of years ago, and thought I would never ever get back on a bike! ”

I’m originally from what was Bombay, India but I can’t go now because I can no longer fly.  I’ve lived in Enfield for 52 years, then there wasn’t traffic like there is today.  I didn’t even need to have a bicycle lock.  Health wise, I think this is one of the best projects in Enfield,  people get exercise.  I ride bikes more than ever now.

I like taking the bus too, you sit down on the top and see everything.  We used to go on the 269 to look at Lords Cricket Ground.  I like Australia House, Royal Court of Justice, there is such beautiful architecture in London.

Cycling is good for your health, it can take you where ever you want to go.

“ Can you imagine an Enfield where people don't automatically jump in their car to run short errands down the road? ”

A bit of background

I had a stroke a couple of years ago, and thought I would never ever get back on a bike. As a teenager I cycled in what was Bombay. It was cheap and accessible way to get around and I enjoyed the sense of freedom. After my stroke, my GP advised me to make changes to my diet to increase my level of fitness. I discovered the free Inclusive Cycling sessions at my local Bush Hill Park. Over time I have gone from cycling on a tricycle to using a two wheeler. I don’t need to use a stick to help me get around!
